Its the little things...

While watching this episode of Angel it struck me that though there where not alot of scary things happening it was seemingly terrifying. A demon that feeds off of paranoia and fear, sometimes causing people to kill themselves, may not seem scary in and of itself but its the way that it plays out in the episode and the little things that make this episode especially scary to me.

Some of the little things that really made the whole mood of paranoia real was times like when the main female character tries to light a cigarette but cant seem too get the lighter to stay lit because of her shaking so Angel has to light it for her. It also points to Angel as the sort of seemingly stable figure in the whole ordeal.

Another one was when the man kills himself and then the record play just keeps playing over and over again, which I do not know about you but would really drive me crazy. And as said before...those "hallways of death". Even the two gay men meeting in hall, paranoid about being caught because of the social rigidness of that time. Were people where not accepted based off of color or sexual preference. All these things really added to the paranoid tone of the episode and for me was quite scary.

Also when Angel says "Take them all..." that sent chills down my spine.

Also the whole 1950's era was perfect because it was a time when everything seemed ok on the outside but there where huge evils committed in secret during that time (Lynching for example). One of my favorite episodes we have watched thus far.
