Firefly the movie

I wasn't sure what to expect when we started watching Serenity. I've seen the whole tv/movie experiment before and it typically does not end well. However, I think the show was able to make a smooth transition in this instance. Part of this may be the fact that the series was so short, it seems like when a show has been around for awhile people just become use to seeing it for a specific amount of time, with its typical story arch and that makes it seem a bit awkward when the movie breaks away from that. When you're used to seeing a show focus on a specific theme it becomes weird when they try and focus on several ideas.

I thought that watching the show helped with understanding what was going on in the movie though the movie did a good job explaining the characters and the main idea. Again, I think the fact that the show had such a short life span helped make it a successful movie.
