Tsunamis, massacres, earthquakes, booms in bomb shelters, civil unrest, etc. Any given day scanning various news sites and reading newspapers one learns to feel almost detached from the constant stream of information of either humans messing up or the earth messing with humans. For days after tsunami and earth quakes shattered Japan one can watch all the coverage but what does this do? Somehow the news channels manage to spin it into a fear mongering of nuclear power and a bunch of people go and purchase iodide. Not to send over to Japan mind you but to take themselves due to sensationalism in the media. It seems the media learns to instill fear more than compassion or passion.

As a news junky I did enjoy that the ultimate goal of their mission ended up informing the masses about a society effing up trying to make a uniformly happy society. It reminded me of the use of Soma in Brave New World minus the generating evil creature thing. Like previous post and comments I concur that as soon as someone thinks they know the "right" way for things to be done to create an "ideal" society one should be frightened. Then again this narrow way of thinking is very easy to relate to because don't we all know what is "right", at least on some issues if not a full blown model for society.

So the video of the lady explaining that the Alliance has done something wrong. What will change? My guess would be nothing. Maybe people will build bomb shelters in their futuristic housing. Which by the way I was reading that the bomb bunker trend is coming back. It was briefly in fashion during the Cold War, but now has made a tremendous come back this season. Paranoia is in, analysis is out. So go buy your guns, gold and Potassium Iodide people, because as usual the end times are coming.
