Some final thoughts

After reading two other people's papers today, I got a lot of insight into what I need to do, things I could add, and some new ideas for my own paper. It was great to see what other people thought of and what they found for sources. I also really enjoyed reading Cait's paper because her topic, heroes, was similar to mine so I felt like I was able to help her more. (I put those peer tutoring skills to work today Dr. H!) On another note, when I first came into this class, I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into. I remember thinking the first week or two that I did not belong in this class. However, as the class comes to an end, I can honestly say that I have enjoyed it. While I didn't love every show we watched, I did like the majority of them. I had never taken a television or film based studies class, but I am a fan. I like writing about television because it is so different than the normal classes. I also liked the discussions in class, and while I didn't take part in many of them, I enjoyed hearing true fans ideas and arguments. This class has opened my eyes to the world of Whedon, something I didn't know existed until this semester. I often see Buffy or Firefly on the guide on my television and the thought of putting it on crosses my mind.

The peer editing was a REALLY good idea, and I am really glad you and I did each other's as well.

Maybe in future classes the different groups should also meet to edit, or even share sources (like we did!) to help with the process!

I think that would have been a good idea to put the groups together for editing. And thanks agian for the source, I found it and am in the process of adding it to my paper as we speak!

So glad, I felt so much better about mine after hearing your ideas, and I was inspired to work on my structure and clarity. Last class was an excellent session, and I am glad your post in response to it also brought in closing thoughts about Whedon in general, I'm feeling so good about all our body of work right now!

Ah, the nostalgia inspired by a newly awakened Whedon appreciator! hehe ;) I liked your post for its warm/ fuzziness, but also for its candid opinion on a class that had us all writing about TV. It was a new experience for me as well and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And what do you mean switching to Firefly on Tv only CROSSES your mind?! ;)

As soon as I finish with David, I am devoting my life to finishing all of Firefly, in order. Who's with me?

Crossing my mind is a big step, who knows, maybe even over the summer when I have this thing called free time I will take the next step and actually put them on. However Cait, you're on your own with Firefly. I wasn't a big fan of the show, but I did like the movie.

Cait: Ooh, me me!! I <3 Firefly. Yes <3. I've been hearing about it for years, and it was nice to have an excuse to watch the series.

And Michelle, I think that the point of a class like this isn't necessarily for you to come to love every show that you watch, but to have the exposure, to be open to it, and to come to appreciate the quality and the time that goes into it, even if you still hate it afterward. So, the fact that you're considering the shows now means you have excelled at the class.
