Buffy: Or How I Learned to Stop Judging and Love the Cheese
Sex, high school, and an elusive Blue Man Group outcast who can suck the humanity out of people and begin the apocalypse. This is my initial reaction just after watching that episode. Having never watched Buffy before, this episode was a lot to take in. I can understand why its so alluring (being a huge fan of the Tru Blood series) because it addresses the absurd fears and anxieties of high school, and even the social world in general, while stabbing ugly vampires in the heart and watching adorable characters run about their lives just like any other day. I think Seth Green's character, Oz, summed it up perfectly when confronted with the realization that not only do vampires exist, but they thrive under the high school he goes to when he said "That explains a lot, actually." Just like vampires, there are people in high school (and in life) that can just suck the life out of you.

As an interesting side topic, we could look at the concept of the vampires around Sunnydale as symbols for psychic vampires in real life, sucking the life out of Buffy.
