Walking Down Sunnydale's Memory Lane

I'm not really much good at blog posts, since I feel so self-conscious, which leads to writer's block. The attempt to be brilliant all the time is quite a burden, my friends. But here it goes.

As a teenager in the grips of melancholy angst I found the Buffy to be a solace for my lonely soul. The portrayal of other equally awkward adolescents brought me some degree of comfort, and the supernatural nature of the show and the snappy dialogue only added to its allure. Plus I was rebelling by watching it, so I felt all kinds of edgy.

Seeing it now as an adult, I can see more cheesy acting moments, and I have always found Angel to be a bit of a drag. The loud kissing between Buffy and Angel? Nausea-inducing. But those are small quibbles. I have always appreciated the fact that Whedon refuses to sugar-coat things, but also manages to locate the positive. Like when they're waiting for Buffy to arrive at her surprise party, and Willow is being morose, Giles talks about how even though things are terrible, there can still be moments of joy. However short-lived.

On a side note, the character of Drusilla simultaneously fascinates and repulses me.
Overall the show stands the test of time...at least for me.
I apologize if I am random.
