Before Thursday, I had only seen one or two Buffy episodes. My first Buffy experience was when I was much younger and did not quite understand what was going on. It seemed a little risqué and a little frightening. Watching it now, I have a much different opinion. I have taken into consideration that this show was filmed in the late 1990’s/early 2000’s, which explains the terrible special effects and fight sequences. I know they were good for that time but they are awfully tough to watch now.
I thought the acting was very humorous. I found myself chuckling in places where I don’t think I should have been chuckling, like during most of the dialogue between Buffy and Angel. It was very cheesy but I’m sure I would have found Angel quite dreamy when I was a preteen. Willow was my favorite because I feel like Alyson Hannigan plays a nerd very well.
It was a little hard to understand “Surprise” because it was in the middle of season 2. I did not know the history of Drusilla or Angel so I went back and watched a few more episodes as well as “Surprise” again. I think once I fully understand the history of the characters and their purposes on the show I will be able to appreciate Buffy a lot more.

I have to admit, I agree with most of what you just said, and I really loved this show throughout all my preteen years when it was in syndication and I watched it. I'm not gonna lie, I cringed at a lot of these scene way more than I thought I would, this has been a really eye-opening experience to go back and look at what I loved when I was fourteen. I can't tell whether it's just because we are watching it in public, or whether I've matured a little.
